Introduction

At Hearts of Hope, hiring is one of the most important things we do. The people we bring onto our team directly shape the safety, stability, and progress of every child in our care.

Qualifications Matter. Character Matters More.
We require our staff to hold a Child and Youth Worker diploma or equivalent, have ASD-specific experience, and hold current crisis intervention, First Aid, and CPR certifications. These are non-negotiable.
But the candidates who thrive at Hearts of Hope bring something beyond their credentials. They bring genuine curiosity about the children they serve. They bring the ability to stay regulated when a child cannot. They bring the kind of quiet, steady presence that tells a child: I am not going anywhere.
What We Are Actually Looking For
When we interview candidates, we are listening for a few specific things. How do they talk about difficult behaviour? Do they describe it as a problem to be managed, or as communication to be understood? How do they handle their own frustration? What does consistency mean to them personally?
The answers to those questions tell us more than any resume.
